It’s that time of year again when new postal rates go into effect. Effective today, January 22, 2012, the cost for mailing a 1 oz letter goes up one penny to 45 cents. Given the financial issues the USPS is going through I would have been OK if they would have raised the cost of a first class stamp to 50 cents. Two ounces will cost you 65 cents.

Rates for First Class and Media Mail package rates are also going up which will increase my costs for swapping CDs, DVDs and books.
